With Halloween literally just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite links from around the web that pay tribute to one of my favorite holidays. And so choosing the top above as this week's pick was a no brainer! I love the hand drawn feel of the monster graphic... and that the monsters themselves aren't particularity scary, just stinking cool! Simplicity at it's best with just the two colors... that just happen to be Halloween colors... and you know me and my feelings on anything too in your face seasonal. This tee passes the test!

Be Art: First 500

10.26.2012

Guess what guys... remember my post awhile about The Profile Picture Exhibition? Well they reached and surpassed (not that I had any doubts they would) their first goal of 500 likes! And in celebration, they decided to thank the first 500 by creating a mini exhibition in their honor... pasting their profile pictures on the walls of Shoreditch! Here are a few behind the scenes snippets with the masterminds themselves as they proudly display the first of many projects to come... don't forget to check out and like their facebook page. And if you live in London, go on by and have a look at the First 500 wall for yourselves!

Benjamin Bunny

10.25.2012

When hubs was a little boy, he received a very special cup indeed! It was a Benjamin Bunny special edition cup from the year he was born. Each of his siblings also received cups with different characters from the Peter Rabbit series, all special editions from the year they were born. I think this is one of the sweetest traditions I have ever heard! They each still have their cups (way to go mama Beale for keeping them all intact!) and we can't wait to pass it down to our own future baby Beale. I think family traditions are important as they reflect where we came from and make us feel united. It'll be interesting to see how we uniquely blend our traditions from our own families into the perfect fit for our little family in the years to come. I am also looking forward to starting new ones with hubs so if you have any suggestions, leave a comment!

Peas And Queues, A/W 2012

10.17.2012

Have you guys heard about Peas and Queues yet? Aside from having one of the cutest brand names (and there are a few good ones out there!) ever, their kid's clothing is equally cute to match! I love the cozy, warm feel that their A/W 2012 collection has... perfect for layering! You will find some lovely chunky knits like that pretty berry colored sweater dress alongside some more traditionally structured wovens... that navy coat below being one of my favorites! They also bring a fresh new look to their clothing with quirky prints and fabric piecing.

After School Snacks: Pinwheel Delights

10.14.2012

Next on our after school snacks series are the ever so easy to make pinwheel delights. So much more exciting than plain old sandwiches, your little ones will love this upgraded version. The best part, using the toothpicks to eat it like finger food! Not to mention you can jazz them up with extra fillers or even dip them in sauces of your choice.

Ingredients
  • ham, cheese, lettuce, & tomato (as needed)
  • 1 tbsp. of cream cheese per wrap
  • tortilla wraps
  • toothpicks
Instructions
  • Spread cream cheese onto one side of the tortilla warp making sure to go all the way to the edges.
  • Arrange the ham, cheese, lettuce, and tomato slices on the tortilla wrap.
  • Starting from one end, tightly roll the tortilla wrap trying to keep the fillings inside.
  • Once rolled up, push in toothpicks about 2" apart to keep wrap rolled.
  • Slice the tortilla log in-between each of the toothpicks to create your pinwheel delights... Enjoy!

Sunday Coffee Links 10.14.12

Gearing up for the chiller months, I saw this poncho and instantly thought yes! Grey is always a winner in my eyes and this one is extra special with a tonal print. Of course some may think grey is a bit serious for kids (not me!), which is why I love the splash of color in the printed lining and neck tie. Another special feature, this garment is made out of vintage recycled fabrics making it a one of a kind!

Over the summer I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Romaine from Junior Style on a few little projects. After School Snacks: Berry Parfait

10.09.2012

The waiting period between after school and dinner can sometimes seem endless. A little one can get very hungry and quite quickly grumpy if left unfed. I know I do! While you don't want them to eat too much and get full before dinner, snacking lightly and nutritiously has been proven to work wonders for the body. With this series, I hope to bring you some quick and easy after school snacks that your little one can enjoy... and look forward to! Feel free to adapt the portions to your child's size and appetite as well as using substitutes depending on food allergies and individual tastes.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup coconut greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 tsp. of honey (I used a lavender one for extra flavor)
  • an assortment of berries (as needed)
Instructions
  • Pour one of the yogurt's into your little one's favorite cup. I stared with the greek yogurt first!
  • Arrange half of your berries on top of the yogurt. I chose strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries but you can get creative with other fruits, nuts, and granola even.
  • Drizzle half of the honey (1/2 tsp.) over the fruit and yogurt. You can add more or less depending on your little one's taste buds. You can also substitute with anything that drips really.
  • Repeat steps 1-3 with your second yogurt of choice, mine was vanilla... Enjoy!

Be Art.

10.05.2012

 image from here

Have you guys heard of The Profile Picture Exhibition yet? It's this great new project that hubs and his co-worker dreamed up one random night (probably over pints to be honest) and decided to make happen! The over all gist of it is making art more relevant to today's youth. Let's face it, museums can sometimes be a bit stuffy... especially one's filled with portraits of people expected to hide all emotion... major snooze fest! But what if some of the world's key art galleries featured portraits of people like you and me? Profile pictures are known universally to be a unique and quirky representation of what you want the world to see you as. I know I would love to see an exhibit filled with stranger's best profile pictures... the good... the bad... the ridiculously silly! It would be the ultimate way to people watch... can you imagine?!?

So how are they making this happen? It's actually quite simple, just like the facebook profile page here and make sure to share it. The goal is to reach at least a million likes (intimidating I know!) and then the profile pictures of everyone that liked the facebook page will be displayed in museums such as the National Portrait Gallery, the Met, and the Louvre. Pretty cool hu? So help them out by liking and sharing... that way we can all stand around sipping champagne while admiring portraits as they are today!

Back To School Hairstyles...

10.04.2012

I came across these really cute back to school hairstyles on the A Cup Of Jo blog (which if you don't follow, you are seriously missing out!) and just had to share! Being more fashion oriented, I sometimes forget about using hairstyles to mix it up and help style an outfit. Truth be told, I'm terrible with hair when it comes to fancy shmancy hairdos... but I figure they must easier to do on some one else! So practice on your little one (if she'll allow it) and get ready to receive a ton of compliments and can you show me hows... my favorite is the heart braid, which is yours?

United Colors Of Benetton, A/W 2012

10.02.2012

Autumn is in full gear over here in London-town and layering in cozy knits is the key to keeping warm and stylish. United Colors Of Benetton have made this extremely easy with their A/W 2012 collection, filled with an assortment of stripes, plaids, and solids. The best part about this trend is that matching patterns isn't necessary... in fact print mixing (which kid's love to do anyways) is encouraged!
