Life lately has been composed of... some much needed quality time with some very inspirational sources... hand sketching with the aid white wine... being (ridiculously) obsessed with denim... and trying to enjoy the last bit of summer as much as these tots above! What have you been up to?

School Style For Him

9.19.2012

Not to leave the boys behind, I pulled together a stylish look from Monsoon for his special first day back to school too! Layering (especially in the cooler climates) is key to making any outfit look instantly cool. Mixing patterns keeps an outfit youthful and fun so I decided to pair a checkered collar shirt under a comfy knit sweater. That way you will have the checkered pattern peeking through in the collar and possibly in the sleeves if you decide to roll them up. Through in there a super rad fox graphic as an added bonus, and your little boy is sure to be a hit!

School Style For Her

9.13.2012

One of the best parts about back to school time is the back to school shopping! Oh and the amazing sales too! I can fondly remember how I looked forward to early September each year. My mom and I would make a day of it... pick out outfits together... have lunch and talk about my nerves/excitement about the upcoming year... really just bond. I hope to share the same experiences with my little ones some day. Here is a cute look I pulled together from Monsoon that I thought a fashionable and quirky little girl might like for her first day... because that first impression means everything!

Room Inspiration 1

9.10.2012

images from here

I am in love with every single detail in this room! From the grey (gender friendly) walls... the moon and pear artwork...the subtle touches of pink... the fantastic choices of plushies... to the bunting on the walls... what's not to love really? I think these guys did an especially great job considering the room is meant to be shared by siblings, a baby and a toddler. With such seamless effort, they have managed to create the perfect, calming room for baby without sacrificing any personality and style for the big kid. If you want to see more pictures of this gorgeous room, you can do so at Coos & Ahhs.

Anything chevron instantly wins me over, so naturally when I saw this super cute cardigan I just had to share with you all! I love the colors they used, bright and bold on a  neutral oatmeal. For The Budding Artist

images from here

Now that we are getting back into school mode, it's important to get certain little people excited about it and this awesome artist kit by Kicokids should do just the trick! Wrapped up nicely in an assortment of brightly colored canvas are the essentials for any budding young artist... colored pencils, a sharpener, and a notepad. My personal favorite is the pink one, but that's just me... which would your little one (or you) chose?

It's back to school season again... yep, it's true! And even though I am no longer a student (and haven't been for a while), I can't help but feel like it's the beginning of a new year. Like there is still time to do all those things I wanted to do in 2012 and the start of the school year reminds me it's time to get my tush in gear! I personally loved school... well, maybe not school so much... but all the getting ready for school stuff involved with September. To this day, place me in any stationary/school supplies store and I can't help but grin from ear to ear. I secretly long for an excuse to buy fresh new pencils, patterned notebooks, and a way cool back pack! So the child (and geek) in me found this selection of back backs and messenger bags for all you cool little ones out there! I swear, I didn't have this amazing of an assortment when I was young...

Stroll: Green Discovery Trail

9.04.2012

Remember back when I said I would do all of the Stroll Discovery Trails... all six of them... well due to being away on holiday and then sick for ages, I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep that promise. Rest assured though, I will try! If you enjoyed reading about (and hopefully doing yourself) the Yellow Trail, then you'll love this green one! This trail had me exploring Regent's Park and luckily on a gorgeous, sunny day. I was of course, the childless one wandering around in search of these mascots and taking pictures of them. I have to admit I was a little relieved when I spotted another childless person doing the same as me... wonder if they have a blog? It was great to see so many little ones enjoying the trails as much as I was. And the sweetest thing, seeing how important each and every pose was to the kiddies... insisting on take after take to ensure the perfect picture.

King's Cross Ice Cream Festival

9.03.2012

Yesterday hubs and I went to King's Cross Ice Cream Festival, an annual two day event held at the end of each summer on the weekend. I only heard about it last minute but knew instantly it was the place to be on a greyish London afternoon. The festival consisted of various ice cream vendors (of course!) and other food carts too. People of all ages gathered and queued for almost hours at a time to get a try of all the different ice creams! Or should I say parents queued while children ran through the fountains despite the lack of warmth and sun... ah to be a kid again! They also had this really amazing ice cream ice sculpture that you could literally see melting away...

Activities like Dike & Son's cow milking tent kept the kiddies well entertained were a huge success! You could also find plenty of little one's sculpting away sand castles in the sand pit... and how amazing is that sculpture by Luc Valvona?!? After analyzing all of the ice cream trucks, hubs and I decided to go for the Shepherd's sheep's milk ice cream. They only had vanilla left by the time we reached the front (a good 30 minutes later) but it's a classic and tasted really rich and creamy so we weren't fussed. Then we sampled some of Lick Me I'm Delicious' ice cream... on a cracker... and it was hands down the most original flavor I've ever tried... Stilton and Port! Definitely more of an adult flavor and oh so good!

Crafts (all ice cream related obviously) were also a big hit. I loved seeing all the creativity the festival as a whole generated, not to mention the talent! Of course cows, ice cream's signature mascot, were everywhere and also dressed up in colorful patterns for the occasion. And let's not forget the petting zoo... lots of little ones eagerly waited for their chance to pet some real live animals including goats, sheep, and a cow. I would say it was a really lovely event in general... very family oriented, bringing together generations... all for a mutual love of ice cream. I would highly recommend marking this in your calenders for next year (sorry, next time I'll try to report events still going on so you too can join in on the fun!) regardless of your age. Kiddies will love it but I do warn you, come early and come prepared to queue... keep those two in mind and you'll be set for some great family fun!

Sunday Coffee Links 9.2.12

9.02.2012

Trying to hold onto the last little bit of summer, my pick for this week is this summery boy's button down in a fun green Liberty print. I love how the playful print instantly updates a traditional silhouette. I often find boyswear to be a little bit repetitive and uninspiring so I was instantly drawn in when I spotted this top! The loin and other mythical creatures in the print will make this favorite classic in your little one's wardrobe... perfect for a late summer picnic or bar b q!
